The BCCA is on Summer Break

The BCCA will be taking a break from meeting for the next 2 months. What that means is we will not be meeting on July 10 at the Tabernacle or at Cracker Barrel on August 14th.

We will resume meeting in September 2008. Please stay tuned and make plans to join us for fellowship and training in the months to come.

I look forward to seeing you all again in September!

Networking Breakfast June 12th

This morning a group of counselor’s met at the Viera/Suntree Cracker Barrel for a lively and encouraging breakfast together.

Dr. Bob Bowers informed us that he will be teaching his anger management class for women starting in July. Jean LeStourgeon, LMHC, will be teaching a marriage skills class for couples starting in July at Trinity Presbyterian in Satellite Beach. More information on both of these opportunities will be forth coming.

Additionally, there was lively discussion about various aspects of incorporating spiritual warfare into counseling, differing thoughts on the subject and approaches…which reminds me…

Dr. Roger Boehm of Center for Christian Counseling in Titusville is teaching his one day seminar on Spiritual Warfare on Monday, June 30th. Please contact his office to register or for more information: 321-269-0404. Roger, who is licensed through NCCA, has extensive experience in counseling individuals with histories in occult practices as well as those suffering from the effects of SRA and DID.

Please mark your calenders for our next Networking and Training meeting Thursday, July 10th at the Tabernacle Community Church in Melbourne.

Soli Deo Gloria,

Jean

Networking Breakfast April 10th

Ever feel like you’re running on empty and and find yourself praying with greater frequency, “God just give me strength to make it through the day”? Would you like to really get energized to start your day? Try meeting with 10 like minded Christian counselors for breakfast at Cracker Barrel. (See the Networking Breakfasts link on the left for the schedule.)

The BCCA networking breakfasts are great places to get recharged - meeting with like minded Christian professionals is always a great encouragement. This morning there was a lot of discussion about upcoming seminars: This morning some of our members were on their way to a seminar on “His Brain, Her Brain” at the Rialto. Tomorrow, Friday April 11, 2008, from 10-2 there is a seminar at the Rialto on Domestic Violence: Hidden Head and Brain Injury with Jenny Johnstone Smith an expert in the arena of Domestic Violence. There will be CEU’s available. The seminar is $45, includes lunch and is payable at the door.

The BCCA breakfasts are also a great place to connect for consultations on cases. What a help to have other professionals available to bounce ideas off of. We bless one another when we meet together.

Other announcements this morning included: Diana Sivadon of Hope Ministries is going through Certified Christian Coach Training in an online course through Erickson College with Tony Husted . Joye Heal, LCSW, recently joined with Links of Hope. She will be doing counseling with children and families. Also, stay tuned for invitations to the LifeBridge Diagnostics open house. Sarah Ledbetter with Eckerd Youth Alternatives is looking for children of prisoners who need mentoring. If you know a child who would benefit, please call her at 243-5803.

The next BCCA Networking and Training Meeting is scheduled for Thursday, May 8th from 8AM to 9:30 AM at the Tabernacle. Roger Wilson will be speaking on “A Counselor’s Spiritual Toolkit.”

The next Networking Breakfast is scheduled for Thursday, June 12, from 8 AM to 9AM. The location is the Cracker Barrel (Viera/Suntree exit).

In His Joy,

Jean

Networking and Training Meeting March 13th

First let me say, “Many thanks” to the Tabernacle Community Church for being such gracious hosts for our bi-monthly meetings.

During this morning’s meeting we took time to network over coffee, fruit and other goodies. There were several new faces this morning: Don Blair from The Fire Place, a Pastoral counseling and prayer ministry in Viera, Joy Heal, LMHC of Life Paths of Florida (246-4305), and Linda Dixon with Hope Recovery Ministries.

Another new face was Sarah Ledbetter with Eckerd Youth Alternatives. She came to inform the BCCA counselors of her program that connects teenagers whose parents are incarcerated with mentors. This can be accomplished by a counselor or parent referral. For more information please contact Sarah at 243-5803.

The guest speaker this morning was “Dr. Bob” Bowers, who spoke to us about the fullness of forgiveness. He has written a book with the same title that outlines 8 very specific steps to forgiveness. The brief presentation was powerful and effective. Dr. Bob also speaks on Anger Management and will be offering an anger management class soon. For more information on Dr. Bob, to order his book or to email him about his anger management class go to his web site.

The Conference Planning Committee gave a report and recommended that the conference that was slated for September 2008 be tabled until next year.

The next Networking Breakfast will be held at the Cracker Barrel (Viera/Suntree exit) on Thursday April 10th from 8AM-9AM.

The next Networking and Training Meeting at the Tabernacle will be held Thursday May 8th from 8AM to 9:30 AM. Roger Wilson from the Tabernacle will be our guest speaker. He will be speaking on “A Counselor’s Spiritual Toolkit.” We look forward to hearing what Roger has to share.

In His service,

Jean
